Who I am

I am Tarık Efe Gülmez, a software developer based in Antalya, Türkiye. I run this website on my own and I am the data controller for any personal data it collects.

For anything about your data, write to tefegulmez@gmail.com.

What you send me

When you press send on the contact form, I receive:

  • Your phone number, when you ask me to call you back.
  • Your email address and message, when you write to me.
  • The date and time your message was sent.

How I measure the site

While you browse, Pulse, an analytics tool I built myself, records how the site is used:

  • The pages you visit and the site that sent you here
  • What you click, including the words on buttons and links, and how far you scroll
  • Text you select on a page, with email addresses and long numbers removed
  • Your pointer movement, so I can see heatmaps and replay visits
  • That you clicked into a contact form field, but never what you type there
  • Your device type, browser, operating system, language, screen size and whether an ad blocker is on
  • How fast pages load and any errors they hit
  • Your approximate location, meaning your country and region, worked out from your IP address without keeping the address

Pulse never records passwords or card details. There are no accounts and no advertising on this site, and I never use this data to identify you or sell it to anyone.

If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, Pulse does not run at all.

Why I use it

I use what you send me for one thing: to reply about the project or question you sent. I use what Pulse records to see which pages work and to fix the ones that don’t.

For messages, the legal grounds are taking steps at your request before a possible contract, and my legitimate interest in answering business enquiries. For Pulse, it is my legitimate interest in understanding and improving this site. Both are set out in Article 5 of the Turkish Personal Data Protection Law No. 6698, known as KVKK, and Article 6 of the GDPR.

Where it is stored

Messages and Pulse data are stored on my own server, hosted by Hosting Dünyam in Istanbul, Türkiye. Only I have access to them. I never sell, rent or share your data with anyone.

The project videos on this site are delivered through Cloudflare. To send you a video, Cloudflare processes your IP address and may do so on servers outside Türkiye. It never receives anything you type or anything Pulse records.

How long I keep it

Messages and Pulse data are deleted 12 months after they were collected. If you ask me to delete them sooner, I will.

Cookies and browser storage

This site sets no cookies. Pulse keeps a random visitor ID, your on or off choice and any events it hasn’t sent yet in your browser’s local storage, and the current visit’s ID in session storage. Clearing this site’s data in your browser removes them.

Fonts are served from this site, so loading a page does not contact Google or any other font provider.

Your rights

Under Article 11 of KVKK and the GDPR you can ask me to:

  • Tell you whether I hold any data about you
  • Send you a copy of it
  • Correct anything that is wrong
  • Delete it
  • Stop or limit how I use it, including Pulse measuring your visits
  • Hand it over in a format you can take elsewhere

Write to tefegulmez@gmail.com and I will reply within 30 days. You can also complain to the Turkish Personal Data Protection Authority, or to the data protection authority in your EU country.

Pulse isn't running in this browser.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it.
